AI and Automotive

Stellantis has initiated a strategic partnership with Mistral AI, a French startup, to integrate artificial intelligence into its vehicles. This partnership aims to enhance user experience and efficiency in production. Mistral AI, founded in 2023 by former researchers from Google DeepMind and Meta, has attracted investments from major names like Microsoft and Nvidia. The startup is known for its open-source AI models, such as Mistral 7B and Mixtral, which allow developers to customize them without relying on the cloud services of large corporations.

The collaboration between Stellantis and Mistral AI has been ongoing for over a year and focuses on various aspects of the automotive industry, from vehicle engineering to fleet data analysis. By leveraging Mistral's expertise, Stellantis aims to improve the quality of its vehicles and reduce development time. Mistral AI's Large Language Models can understand natural language, allowing searches to be transformed into clear and comprehensible conversations.

Additionally, the partnership will enable the development of an intelligent assistant for cars, capable of interacting smoothly with drivers. This assistant will provide information and explanations about the vehicle's features, enhancing the interaction between the user and the car. Stellantis also plans to extend the AI models to practical applications, such as quality control in production, to quickly identify any errors and optimize the production chain.
