Deep Research now for everyone

ChatGPT's Deep Research is a new in-depth research feature that is now accessible to a larger number of users. Until recently, only Pro plan subscribers could benefit from this option, but now users of Plus, Team, Edu, and Enterprise plans can take advantage of it. This tool allows for detailed searches with citations, increasing the chances of obtaining more complete and accurate information. However, it is important to note that there are limits to the use of this feature and that free users cannot access it. These changes were introduced to enhance the search experience for paying users.

The operation of Deep Research is simple. Users must access the web version of ChatGPT and type in their question. They can also upload context files to enrich the search. Once the feature is activated, the search may take between 5 to 30 minutes depending on the complexity of the request. At the end, users receive a notification informing them that the report is ready, complete with a summary of the steps and sources used. This novelty represents a significant step forward in personalizing searches, allowing users to receive more relevant and detailed results.

In addition to reports, OpenAI plans to add further functionalities in upcoming updates. These will include images, data visualizations, and analytical outputs to make reports even more useful. Users will also be able to link specialized data sources to improve the accuracy of information. Despite current limits, Deep Research has great potential to revolutionize the way online research is conducted. OpenAI has classified this feature as 'medium risk' in its Preparedness Framework, but if it can keep its promises, it could radically change the approach to information search.
