Regulation on artificial intelligence

The Senate has approved a bill on AI in professions, establishing rules for technology use and information obligations for professionals.

Regulation on artificial intelligence

On March 20, 2025, the Senate Assembly approved a bill regarding artificial intelligence (AI) in professions. This is an important step to regulate the use of AI systems in intellectual work.

rticle 12 of the bill establishes that AI systems can only be used for support activities in professions. It is specified that the use of AI must be subordinate to the main intellectual work of the professional. Furthermore, the bill introduces an obligation for professionals to inform clients. They must communicate the use of AI systems to clients, providing clear and understandable information.

This is essential to maintain trust between the professional and the client. The bill, identified as A.S. 1146, now moves to the Chamber for a second reading. The document also provides for the issuance of implementing decrees to define the governance of AI systems in Italy.

The regulation aims to ensure ethical and responsible use of technology in intellectual professions. Professionals will therefore need to be transparent about the use of AI and its impact on their services. This approach aims to protect clients' rights and ensure that AI is used appropriately and beneficially.
